My Story

I am a Detroiter of almost five years. My inspiration comes from the motor city’s history, beauty, charm, and tradition. With six years of experience, teaching art in the public school system and a Master of Education with a concentration in Art Therapy from Wayne State University. I currently work as an Art Therapist at a Behavioral Health Hospital on the east side of Detroit. Almost three years ago now, an assignment from my graduate program, launched me into what is now Drawn to Detroit. I am a self-taught freehand illustrator - which is what sets my work apart from others. I do not use any rulers, t-squares, or other drawing tools. My collection includes almost 60 illustrations with a focus on Detroit architecture. Since Detroit is home to myself and my business, each drawing is created in real-time, viewing the building and or by a photo taken of the structure in its current state. I have had the privilege to showcase my work at Beacon Park, Saint Andrews Hall, The Detroit Writing Room, The Detroit Shoppe, and VoyageMichigan Magazine. As my business has grown I have offered commission work to interested clients. And as a result, the collection has expanded to include illustrations that highlight different cities like Ann Arbor, Pennsylvania, and Atlanta to name a few.

It’s no secret that Detroit and its surrounding cities are home to several beautifully curated wedding venues. Recently I started offering wedding Save The Dates that highlighted my freehand illustrations. I have since, expanded the Drawn to Detroit Wedding collection to include custom wedding favors, custom magnets, and stickers, prints that serve as guest books, Invitation Bundles, Thank You Cards, and much more! The Drawn to Detroit Wedding collection is simple yet elegant. I pride myself on the custom work for each Bride and Groom, along with an exceptional customer service experience. Since I am constantly expanding my reach I continue to offer clients the ability to request custom illustrations of buildings (including homes) not yet in the collection and or outside of the city of Detroit.
